The Master of International Economics and Finance is an economics-focused, interdisciplinary program that examines the globalised world economy and the significant role played by financial markets and institutions within interconnected modern economies.
This 18-month master's program is designed for applicants with a bachelor's degree in economics, business, or commerce; or who have some university-level background in economics. Receive comprehensive training in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and finance. You can also choose from a large number of economics electives, or courses that cover topics from international business or finance. Benefit from a program that emphasises understanding and practical application – rather than memorisation and rote learning as the key approaches to addressing complex global problems. Applicants must have a Bachelor degree or equivalent with a GPA of at least 4.50 on a 7 point scale and four years full-time work experience post-graduation including at least two of the four years full-time work experience gained while working in a dedicated supervisory/management role as approved by the Executive Dean; OR Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from UQ or equivalent with a GPA of at least 4.50 on a 7 point scale. International applicants must complete the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) with a minimum score of 550. English language requirements: IELTS: Overall Band Score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6 in each sub-band of Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening; or TOEFL (Internet-Based-iBT): Overall score 87 with a Writing score of 21 and Reading, Speaking and Listening scores of 19; or TOEFL (Paper-based): Overall score of 570 and a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE) and 54 in Listening and Reading; or PTE: Overall score of 64 with 60 in each communicative skills section; or CAE/CPE: Overall Cambridge English Scale (CES) score of 176 with a minimum score of 169 in each skill; or BEP: A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all four macro skills.

An approved Bachelor degree with a GPA of at least 4.50 on a 7 point scale. An approved degree is a Bachelor degree in the discipline of economics, business or commerce; or a Bachelor degree containing at least four courses in any three of the following areas: microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics and mathematics; or the graduate certificate in economics from this university with a GPA of 4.5.
