专业简介
This two-year program is designed for applicants with an approved bachelor's degree in engineering. You also need to have completed your undergraduate degree in one of the fields offered in this program. For details, check the Program Rules. Complete a range of advanced engineering courses from one of the following fields: Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Undeclared (chemical, civil, materials, mechanical, and mechatronic engineering).Study your choice of business courses covering topics from international business, marketing, management, communication, innovation, entrepreneurship, and more. In total, there are nearly 50 business courses to choose from. Undertake a supervised research project relevant to your engineering field. You'll be expected to systematically plan and manage all aspects of your project, and to clearly explain your findings and what they contribute to your field.
Fields of study
Electrical Engineering
Courses in this field of study cover traditional areas of electrical engineering – including power systems, electronics and signal processing – as well as more specialized areas such as biomedical technologies, computer systems, software, and telecommunications. This field of study is intended to extend graduate career opportunities in areas including telecommunications, electronics, computer hardware, control systems, or power systems.
Software Engineering
This field of study consists of an extensive menu of intermediate- and advanced-level courses, which are designed to build on your existing engineering skills. In total, there are nearly 40 courses to choose from. Specific topics include operating systems, artificial intelligence, information systems, implementing compilers and interpreters for programming languages, and many more. Graduates typically work for global companies, state and federal government departments, and in many small, specialized and emerging companies.
Undeclared
The Undeclared field of study is intended to develop advanced skills in engineering analysis and problem solving. It is suitable for anyone who is interested in solving advanced technical challenges, managing projects and overseeing teams. As a student in this field, you'll develop greater understanding of complex engineering problems and gain practical experience and knowledge of advanced engineering tools and processes. You'll also acquire mathematical and experimental skills, and advanced materials knowledge. Engineering disciplines available in the undeclared field include: chemical engineering, civil engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, and mechatronic engineering.
Career outcomes
Graduates of the Master of Engineering Science (Management) have developed the advanced knowledge needed to cross disciplinary boundaries and undertake sophisticated and complex engineering work.
Graduates not only have technical expertise, but also have a combination of business, problem-solving and interpersonal skills to understand markets and develop productive relationships with customers, suppliers, business partners and colleagues.
Because the program has a strong emphasis on research and research skills, other students work in research or advisory positions, or choose to enrol in a Master of Philosophy or PhD program.
