Receive advanced training in clinical reasoning and research, and develop your understanding of clinical psychology and effective therapeutic practice. Specialise in one field of study: Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Clinical Psychology and Clinical Geropsychology. Undertake a substantial research thesis and coursework covering clinical skills and assessment, professional, ethical and interpersonal competencies, evidence-based practice, and more.

Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology
This field provides a focus on clinical psychology training in the application of evidence-based approaches to assessment and intervention to help people to enhance their functioning and reduce psychological distress while allowing specialisation in neuropsychological theory and practice in the assessment and treatment of emotional and behavioural disorders associated with dysfunction of brain processes or head injury.
Clinical Psychology
Clinical psychologists apply evidence-based approaches to assessment and intervention to help people to enhance their functioning and reduce psychological distress. They have expertise in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of a wide range of issues including anxiety; depression; substance abuse; couple, parenting and family problems; adjustment to physical illness and learning difficulties.
Clinical Psychology and Clinical Geropsychology
This field provides a focus on clinical psychology training in the application of evidence-based approaches to assessment and intervention to help people to enhance their functioning and reduce psychological distress while allowing specialisation in clinical geropsychology applying practical knowledge of primary prevention strategies, clinical intervention, and rehabilitation for older people.
Career outcomes
Graduates of the Doctor of Psychology can apply for general registration as a psychologist in Australia and are eligible to apply for the Registrar Program through the Psychology Board of Australia.

Applicants must have a Bachelor degree or equivalent with a GPA of at least 4.50 on a 7 point scale and four years full-time work experience post-graduation including at least two of the four years full-time work experience gained while working in a dedicated supervisory/management role as approved by the Executive Dean; OR Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from UQ or equivalent with a GPA of at least 4.50 on a 7 point scale. International applicants must complete the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) with a minimum score of 550. English language requirements: IELTS: Overall Band Score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6 in each sub-band of Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening; or TOEFL (Internet-Based-iBT): Overall score 87 with a Writing score of 21 and Reading, Speaking and Listening scores of 19; or TOEFL (Paper-based): Overall score of 570 and a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE) and 54 in Listening and Reading; or PTE: Overall score of 64 with 60 in each communicative skills section; or CAE/CPE: Overall Cambridge English Scale (CES) score of 176 with a minimum score of 169 in each skill; or BEP: A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all four macro skills.

An approved 4-year bachelor degree in psychology (Honours I or IIA) or a combination of an approved 4-year degree in psychology and an approved masters degree.
Applicants must be eligible for provisional or if applicable, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Applicants with non-Australian degrees must have their qualifications assessed by the APS.
