Undertake the Bachelor of Midwifery to develop the professional skills to provide care, education, support and advice to expectant mothers (and parents) through pregnancy, birth and the weeks that follow. The Bachelor of Midwifery is underpinned by an innovative, inquiry-based approach to learning that has been informed in international best practice by industry experts, and responds to current national and global population health challenges. Undertake practical learning in a hospital from your first semester of study. You'll learn from practising clinicians who have extensive midwifery experience, as well as lecturers who are among the best in Australia and leaders in teaching and research. Benefit from a program that applies theory to specific case studies designed to reflect what it's like to really work with women and parents from diverse backgrounds. Generally, you will stay in the same placement hospital for the duration of your degree. Graduate job-ready after undertaking over 1000 hours of supervised clinical placements including continuity of care experiences, which involve accompanying women through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period Career outcomes Our graduates are distinguished by their breadth of knowledge, professional readiness, initiative, and problem-solving skills. They typically find employment in a range of different public and private healthcare settings, maternity and neonatal care settings, teaching and research centres, rural and remote health clinics, and aid organisations. If you complete the Bachelor of Nursing with the Bachelor of Midwifery, you can also work in a broader range of hospital departments, including paediatrics and child health, rehabilitation, cardiac nursing and critical care. Other graduates choose to further their research ambitions and enrol in an honours year, where they develop their research skills and make significant contributions to knowledge. Program structure The courses offered in the Bachelor of Midwifery are set out in the course list. Each course is allocated a certain number of units (#). Academic minimum entry requirements for international applicants vary from country to country. For more details, please visit university site.
