The Bachelor of Science will equip you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for further research or employment in the field of your chosen major. You will benefit from hands-on, practical learning experiences both on-campus and in the field. The first year of the course will provide you with a foundation for a career in the biological, analytical and agricultural sciences and prepare you to major in Applied Biology. You will benefit from field trips to a variety of destinations, including coral reefs, intertidal and terrestrial ecosystems, main land vegetation communities, agricultural enterprises, mine and other land degradation sites and freshwater and estuarine environments. You will also have the option to undertake a work placement as part of your studies, allowing you to network professionally while completing your studies. Applied Biology Major This major includes advanced units in invertebrate and vertebrate biology, ecology, microbiology and management of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, which enable students to pursue a wide range of career options in the fields of ecosystem management and rehabilitation, environmental monitoring and conservation of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. PROGRAM STRUCTURE You are required to complete 24 units, comprising of eight core units and 16 units (including those specified for your chosen major).
