The Master of Music (Interactive Composition) is a research degree that prepares you for a specialist career in composition within other media contexts. The program seeks to develop graduates who have a capacity for defining and managing a major creative research project characterized by originality and independence. Interactive Composition candidates produce a folio of new work for sound with other media and submit a thesis. You are provided with training in research methods, contemporary artistic practice and theories of arts and culture, while developing individual mastery in your field of practice. The program invites research applicants with projects relating to interactive composition with a strong focus on interdisciplinary sound making. On completion of this course students should be able to: Design, conduct and report independent and original research on a closely-defined project Obtain well-developed and flexible problem-solving abilities appropriate to the discipline Engage in independent and contextually-informed artistic practice Communicate effectively the results of research and scholarship by oral and written communication Critically evaluate relevant scholarly literature and artistic practice Have an understanding of and facility with scholarly conventions in the discipline area On completion of the Interactive Composition stream, students will have: Developed interactive composition skills to a professional level Ability to present research in publishable form or work towards incorporating findings in further research The Master of Music (MMus) Interactive Composition provides you with a research-based foundation for articulating your artistic practice in the professional domain, and may also lead to teaching or doctoral study.
