Accreditation Qualified teachers who wish to be recognised by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) as a Languages teacher must complete the Language Teaching specialisation plus 22 days of placement at a school or similar setting during school hours. Course structure Course code: MC-MLED 2 years full time or 4 years part time 200 points of coursework (with the possibility of up to 100 points of advanced standing), comprising: 75 points of core subjects, including a capstone component and research methods 50 points of education elective subjects 75 points of additional languages elective subjects 100 credit points of advanced standing will be given to applicants who have either: A four-year education degree, or equivalent; or An undergraduate degree in any discipline and at least 100 credit points, or equivalent, of graduate study in education Successful completion of a major in a language other than English (or a statement of equivalence) is a requirement for Languages teacher accreditation in Victoria. Depending on your studies, you may be able to teach one or more languages other than English.
