专业简介
Meet the health challenges of the future with the Master of Engineering (Biomedical) at Australia’s No. 1 university for engineering and technology. Gain the specialist skills required to create new medical treatments, instruments and devices.
Learn from world leading experts
You will be guided by academics who have worked on ground-breaking innovations in medical bionics, human movement, prosthetics and tissue engineering. Some of these breakthroughs include: the bionic eye, implants to help control epilepsy, treating real-world injuries with virtual reality and tissue regeneration for patients recovering from breast cancer.
Industry aligned curriculum
Prepare for your future career through internships, industry projects and real-world innovation challenges with industry mentors.
Entrepreneurial opportunities
Develop your entrepreneurial ability by collaborating with business students and medical sector mentors. The collaboration could see you bring a medical device to market with our BioDesign Innovation subject.
Internationally recognised qualification
Access engineering careers around the world, with dual accreditation in the Master of Engineering.
World class facilities
We’re home to Australia’s leading VR biomechanical facility, CAREN (Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment), focused on improving our understanding of human movement and rehabilitation.
Course structure
FIRST YEAR
In your first year (or equivalent) you’ll complete foundation engineering subjects – tailored to students from a non-engineering background. If you’ve completed the Bioengineering Systems major in your bachelor degree, plus the required maths and science subjects, you’ll receive credit for these foundation engineering subjects and start in second year.
SECOND AND THIRD YEAR
In the second and third year (or equivalent), you’ll focus on your chosen engineering discipline. As a biomedical engineering student, your focus will be on human systems and the design and operation of devices and processes that can be applied to new medical treatments, instruments and machines.
You’ll undertake an industry, design or research project and gain the skills and knowledge to practice as a professional engineer.
Careers
As a biomedical engineer, you could work in a range of fields such as biotechnology, health services, medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
