专业简介
Create solutions to critical challenges in food, energy and water supply, with a Master of Engineering (Biochemical) from Australia’s No.1 university for engineering and technology.
You'll gain a unique set of biochemical science and engineering skills to design new bioproducts and bioprocesses.
Learn from world leading experts
Be guided by experts in nanotechnology, carbon capture and storage and bioengineering. You’ll learn from academics who have worked on bioremediation to keep Antarctica clean, treating cancer using nanoscale targeted drug delivery, and product innovations for the dairy industry.
Industry-aligned curriculum
Apply your skills through internships, industry projects, and innovation challenges with industry mentors.
The Master of Engineering (Biochemical) is a 2–3 year full-time degree (part-time available) depending on your prior study.
Course structure
FIRST YEAR
In your first year (or equivalent) you'll complete foundation engineering subjects – tailored to students from a non-engineering background. If you completed a Chemical Systems major in your bachelor degree, plus the required maths and science subjects, you'll receive credit for these foundation engineering subjects and start in the second year.
SECOND AND THIRD YEAR
In your second and third year (or equivalent), you'll focus on your chosen engineering discipline. As a biochemical engineering student, your focus will be designing new bioproducts and bioprocesses. You will apply your knowledge to food and beverage engineering, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, and environmental remediation.
You'll undertake an industry, design or research project as practical way to gain the skills and knowledge to practice as a professional engineer.
Careers
As a biochemical engineer, you could work in a diverse range of industries, such as food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, cosmetics, biological waste treatment and bioremediation.
