Positive psychology has developed a scientific understanding of how humans flourish and how communities and institutions can be strengthened. The Master of Applied Positive Psychology will equip you to apply positive psychology principles in your professional and personal life. Evidence-based approach The course promotes an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach to working in positive psychology, and will instil in you a strong sense of professional integrity and civic engagement. Internationally renowned team This course is built on the work of an internationally renowned team, including Professor Lea Waters, Associate Professor Lindsay Oades, Associate Professor Dianne Vella-Brodrick and Dr Peggy Kern, at the Centre for Positive Psychology. Through this course, you will learn how to create and evaluate positive, meaningful change in a range of professional contexts – and build the skills to promote optimal leadership within organisations. Learning and assessment takes place through a range of tasks including debates, case studies, role plays, videos and research. You’ll also be encouraged to apply positive psychology principles to your own life and critically reflect on these experiences. The program covers the different strategies that individuals and groups use to enhance and promote health, and the important factors that involve sustained behavioural change. Course structure Course code: MC-APP 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time 4 core subjects (including a capstone project), each worth 25 points. You will cover the following themes: principles of positive psychology positive interventions and programs positive psychology and organisations. Delivery mode Subjects are generally delivered in three two-day on-campus intensives on Fridays and Saturdays. You will learn how to create and evaluate positive and meaningful change and promote optimal leadership within organisations.
