The Graduate Diploma of Urban Horticulture is perfect if you want to explore the foundations of designing, creating, managing and advocating for urban green spaces. You can complete your Graduate Diploma in a single year and utilise our excellent linkages to industry and local or state governments, or you can use this as a pathway into the Master of Urban Horticulture, as this would be equivalent to the first year of the Masters course. For new starters and old hands Whether you’re new to urban horticulture or already have some experience and want to upskill, there’s an entry point for you into this course. Learn in a garden campus You'll spend your time getting your hands dirty – literally – alongside world-class researchers at our beautiful Burnley campus and at sites throughout the city. Link with Industry The course has excellent linkages and contacts to the urban horticulture industry, adding to the currency and relevancy of the study experience, but also building employment opportunities in green space management for the future. Course structure Successful completion of 100 credit points. This will be made up of: Compulsory core subjects (50 points) Elective subjects (50 points) You’ll be able to select elective subjects from a broad range, to follow your own interests Career outcomes Our graduates go on to work as: Horticulturalists Arborists Revegetation and restoration specialists Landscape designers Open space managers Nursery and greenhouse managers. Employers in this field include: Local government State government departments Landscape design and asset management businesses Academic and public research institutions such as universities and the CSIRO. Further study Completion of the course enables progression into the Master of Urban Horticulture, with 100 points of credit.
