The Graduate Diploma in Science (Advanced) gives students with an undergraduate major in one of our available streams the chance to complete 100 additional points of study, potentially including a research component. You'll increase your specific knowledge and understanding, and build awareness of current developments and issues relating to your area.

Most streams are available with a research component, while the botany, mathematics and statistics and physics streams are also available as coursework-only.

Graduate coursework programs normally require the satisfactory completion of an undergraduate degree either from the University of Melbourne, another Australian institution, or a university in another country. English language requirements: IELTS (academic English Only) - 7.0 overall, with written 7 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 600 + TWE 5.0; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 94 + (Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill.

In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed: An undergraduate degree with a major in a relevant discipline AND appropriate prerequisite studies for the stream into which entry is sought.
