If you already have a degree in a related field and at least one year of documented relevant work experience, the Graduate Diploma in Property Valuation is the perfect way to enhance those qualifications and develop or progress your career in property valuation.
The course duration is full-time over one year. If you're a domestic student you have the flexibility to study part-time over two years.
The course aims to develop skills in property valuation and is designed to:
Enhance your existing qualifications
Extend the knowledge you've obtained in earlier studies to include property valuation
Extend your proficiency in technical and managerial aspects of property
The Graduate Diploma in Property Valuation is full-time over one year. If you're a domestic student you have the flexibility to study part-time over two years.
Either way, you will undertake eight core courses covering all the fundamentals of property valuation, preparing you for career development or change.
You must complete 100 points of core subjects.
You may vary subject selection in consultation with the course coordinator.
Professional accreditation
Completion of the Graduate Diploma in Property Valuation will meet all the valuation requirements of Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) certification with the Australian Property Institute. However, students will need to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to check whether their prior studies (together with the Graduate Diploma in Property Valuation) meet the Australian Property Institute's requirements.
Learning outcomes
The purpose of the graduate diploma is to provide graduates in semi-cognate disciplines with sufficient valuation theory and practice to achieve recognition as a certified practising valuer (after a requisite period of industry experience).
Upon completion of this course, you will have:
An understanding of property concepts
Background knowledge necessary for entry to the valuation profession and/or for further academic studies
Students in this program may be eligible to undertake final subject assessment if they:
are in the final semester of their enrolment (not the last 50 points of the course); and
fail a single subject worth up to 12.5 points with a final result of 40 - 49%.

Graduate coursework programs normally require the satisfactory completion of an undergraduate degree either from the University of Melbourne, another Australian institution, or a university in another country. English language requirements: IELTS (academic English Only) - 7.0 overall, with written 7 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 600 + TWE 5.0; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 94 + (Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill.
