What is it about?
If you are seeking flexibility in seeking a shorter graduate qualification in finance, the Graduate Diploma in Finance at the Melbourne Business School offers this. Students of the Graduate Diploma can apply to transfer to the Master of Finance if you wish to gain the additional benefits offered by the two-year degree.
Who is it for?
The course is designed for students with a pre-existing Bachelor of Commerce (or equivalent) to undertake a broader and more comprehensive training in finance than is feasible within an undergraduate degree.
The Graduate Diploma in Finance consists of eight 12.5 point subjects, and will normally be completed in one year of full-time study or two years part-time. The 100 point program comprises of:

Graduate coursework programs normally require the satisfactory completion of an undergraduate degree either from the University of Melbourne, another Australian institution, or a university in another country. English language requirements: IELTS (academic English Only) - 7.0 overall, with written 7 and no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (paper-based test) - 600 + TWE 5.0; TOEFL (internet-based test) - 94 + (Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50; Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill.

In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed:
an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent, with studies in Business Finance, Investments and Corporate Finance (37.5 points), or their equivalents;
a personal statement outlining why they wish to be considered for the course; and
the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) unless the applicant has completed an undergraduate degree in Australia or New Zealand or met one of the approved conditions for GMAT or GRE exemption.
