专业简介
Follow your interests and choose from a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, cultures and languages.
Enhance your opportunities for careers or postgraduate study through our double major requirement. You can explore different subjects before choosing your two majors. You are free to combine any two majors, to pursue your interests or to meet a career goal.
Benefit from distinctive opportunities to develop skills for many different careers in a fast-changing, globalised economy. You can further extend your skills and knowledge for future employment by choosing to take one or two of our optional Modules.
You will choose two BA subjects as your two majors (your "double major"). You will take eight courses (120 points) in each major. This includes at least three courses (45 points) at Stage III in each major.
In your first year you will probably take eight courses: four in semester one and four in semester two. A typical pattern would be to take two courses in each of three BA subjects, choose one course in a fourth BA subject, and take a General Education course. This gives you an opportunity to explore your interests and discover your strengths.
Towards the end of your first year, you will choose your two majors. In later years you will concentrate on these subjects.
Art History
Art History develops the skills necessary to analyse and interpret a world that is saturated with images. It provides a deeper understanding of different cultural traditions and historical periods, and teaches us the importance of creativity and the freedom of the imagination.
You can study a range of art forms from many countries, from historical times to the present day. As well as painting, drawing and sculpture, you can explore photography, video, digital and computer-based art, performance art, cartoons, design, weaving, carving, prints and architecture.
Where can Art History take you?
Studying Art History can build skills in creative thinking, design and planning, which are useful for careers in communication and media, marketing, journalism, conservation, exhibition management, galleries and auction houses, tourism, diplomacy, intellectual property and copyright law, and business management.
Where could this programme take you?
Your BA study will help you develop strong capabilities for many careers: communication skills, creative and critical thinking, the ability to research, analyse and evaluate information, problem-solving, adaptability, and an awareness of different perspectives. These enduring capabilities are increasingly valued by employers. You'll be well-positioned to pursue new career opportunities as the world of work changes.
