Programme overview
This programme is designed to develop the knowledge and skills that aspiring and current educational leaders need to meet the need for high-quality, equitable learning opportunities for all children.
The courses are taught by nationally and internationally respected academic staff whose research has had a considerable impact on New Zealand’s educational policy and practice.

Can be taken as a stand-alone qualification or as a pathway into the Master of Educational Leadership.
Programme structure
Most courses are delivered through weekly lectures and on-campus block courses at Epsom Campus. Some courses are offered online as flexible self-directed study.
Requirement: 120 points
30-point core course: EDPROFST 738 Educational Leadership
An approved Research Methods course (30 points) from either EDPROFST 757 Undertaking Research for School Improvement, or EDUC 787 Undertaking Research for School Improvement
Two 30-point courses (60 points total) from recommended elective courses below or other 700-level courses approved by the Programme Head:

Applicants must hold a satisfactory level of competence in the subject area attested from a recognised institution, or an equivalent qualification. Other English Language Requirements accepted: overall score of 575 plus Essay (TWE) of 4.5 in Paper-based TOEFL; CAE score of 58 or higher, no individual language skill below borderline; CPE score of 45 or higher; PTE overall score of 65 and no PTE communicative skills score below 58; score of 85 in Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB).

You must have completed an undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or similar institution) and a professional qualification in teaching (or similar profession).
You will also need at least three years’ practical experience in teaching (or in a related profession) including experience in a formal or informal leadership and/or management role.
IELTS (Academic) Overall score of 6.5 and no bands below 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) Overall score of 90 and a written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL Overall score of 575 and Total Written Essay (TWE) of 4.5; CAE or CPE: Overall score 176 and Minimum band score169; FCertEAP: Overall score B-; PTE Academic: Overall Score 58 and Minimum communicative skills score 50; MELAB: Overall score 85.
