Programme overview An MCom allows you to develop an advanced level of knowledge and competencies with an intellectually rewarding postgraduate programme in your specialist field. Programme structure The MCom is a 120 or 180-point specialist masters degree that builds on a first degree in the same discipline. The MCom (180 point) is a 12 or 15-month taught specialist masters comprising coursework and a short dissertation. If you have a first degree you can pursue an advanced specialised qualification in the same discipline. If you have completed a BCom (Hons) or equivalent, you may be eligible to undertake a 120-point MCom degree by research comprising a supervised thesis. Commercial Law You can study Commercial Law in two postgraduate programmes offered at the Business School, and four offered at Auckland Law School. What can you study in Commercial Law? In Commercial Law you will study the legal frameworks used to make business decisions in the public and private sectors. You will focus on legal problems you may encounter in your career. Commercial law is crucial to all careers in business as well as law, including accounting, finance, management, HR, marketing, property and entrepreneurship. Courses are taught by a combination of Auckland Law School staff, staff of the Department of Commercial Law in the Faculty of Business and Economics, distinguished overseas academics, and senior law practitioners.
