Develop the skills for further study in the Bachelor of Communication Studies.
The Certificate in Communication Studies introduces you to radio, TV and screen production, journalism and digital media. In just one year you gain an understanding of the media industry, and learn to develop and present ideas in an academic context.

Career opportunities
The Certificate in Communication Studies is designed as a foundation to the Bachelor of Communication Studies. You need to have a B grade average to staircase to the Bachelor of Communication Studies.
This certificate can also serve as a pathway into the Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, Bachelor of Māori Development and other AUT programmes.

Completion of Year 12
NCEA or equivalent: 48 level 2 credits or higher, plus 8 credits at level 1 in at least one subject from Classical Studies, Drama, English, Geography, Health Education, History, History of Art, Media Studies, Social Studies
CIE: 60 points on the UCAS Tariff
English Language requirements:
IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 80; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with B/B+ grade; GIE with B grade; CAE minimum overall score of 169; PTE minimum overall score of 50.
