Does a career in telecommunications or electronics manufacturing sounds like you? Graduates of the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electronic) will be able to gain employment as engineering technicians in electronics field. The Electronic pathway in the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering is your entry into computer programming, microcontrollers, learning about electronic circuits and their applications.
Graduates from the Electronic Engineering strand will be able to:
Apply engineering theory to practice working within well-defined engineering problems relevant to their specialist field of electronic engineering
Use their new engineering knowledge to make informed problem solving decisions in electronic engineering and to implement these decisions
Identify, evaluate and manage risks within well-defined engineering problems relevant to the field of electronic engineering

Qualification pathway
Once you've successfully completed this programme pathway you'll receive the qualification New Once you've successfully completed this programme pathway you'll receive the qualification New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electronic).
This programme can cross-credit into the Bachelor programmes Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical) with an Electronics specialisation.

Applicants will need the following: A recognised degree, a professional qualification in a relevant discipline or the ability to demonstrate competencies equivalent to the above; a minimum of 8 credits at NCEA Level 2 in English (4 in reading, 4 in writing). English Language Requirements: NCEA Level 3 and New Zealand University entrance; NZCEL (Academic) (Level 5); IELTS score of 6.5 with a min band score of 6 (reading and writing) and 5.5 (speaking and listening); TOEFL (pBT) Paper-based test score of 550 (essay 5 TWE); TOEFL (iBT) Internet-based test score of 60 (writing 18); FCE or FCE for schools, or CAE, or CPE with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill. OET at Grade C in all sub-tests; Pearson Test of English (PToE) Academic with a score of 58 with score of at least 50 (reading & writing) and 42 (speaking and listening).
