Programme overview
Gain the skills to become a safe and competent osteopathic practitioner who can provide patient management and care within a multi-cultural environment. Improve your understanding of osteopathic treatment techniques, and learn to embrace and distinguish between a variety of health care paradigms. Further your ability to engage in critical reflective practice, scholarly debate and research, and learn to critically assess your own performance. You'll also find out how to locate and integrate health care information to the benefit of the patient.

Applicants must have at least three years appropriate professional experience relevant to the discipline in which the doctorate is to be undertaken, and have: Qualified for, or been awarded, a master’s degree in the same or similar discipline with not less than upper second class honours, or equivalent; or Been awarded an honours degree of four years duration in the same or similar discipline with at least an A- average, and which includes a research project; or a postgraduate diploma in the same or similar discipline and be able to demonstrate, through substantial industry reports or other research publications, analytical and critical thinking skills and data interpretation. A minimum of 8 credits at NCEA Level 2 or higher in English (4 in reading, 4 in writing). English Language Requirements: Have achieved NCEA Level 3 and New Zealand University entrance; NZCEL (Academic) (Level 4); IELTS score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5; TOEFL (pBT) Paper-based test score of 550 (essay 5 TWE); TOEFL (iBT) Internet-based test score of 60 (writing 18); FCE or FCE for schools, or CAE, or CPE with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill. OET at Grade C in all sub-tests; Pearson Test of English (PToE) Academic with a score of 50 with no score lower than 42.

1. Successfully completed the Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) with a B grade average in the final year, or an Osteopathic Council of New Zealand (OCNZ) recognised equivalent
2. Complete a Self-declaration of Criminal Convictions and Medical Conditions Form
3. Demonstrate clinical and professional aptitude
If English is not your first language and you haven't completed the Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) or an OCNZ recognised equivalent, you will need to have an IELTS band score of no less than 7.0 in each band test.
