The accounting profession and agriculture industry require a future workforce with the expertise and the skills you will develop in Lincoln University's Bachelor of Commerce (Agriculture and Professional Accounting). This four-year degree encompasses the core requirements of the BCom(Ag) degree as well as the accounting and business courses required to enable you to qualify as a professional accountant. On completion of the degree you will meet the academic requirements for these professional accounting bodies: CPA (Certified Practising Accountants) Australia Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Summary of Regulations All of the following: Pass at least 480 credits (32 courses) Pass all compulsory courses Complete no more than 165 credits (11 courses) at the 100 level Complete at least 105 credits (7 courses) at the 300 level Complete all practical work requirements Practical Work A period of Practical Work is a requirement of this qualification and full details are available in the handbook. Summary At least 30 weeks work must be completed in total. This could be either: 2 farm placements of 15 weeks each, or 2 farm placements plus an allied placement of 10 weeks each. The minimum placement is 10 weeks per workplace. The maximum placement is 15 weeks. Two reports are required. It is important that students in this programme have the following attributes to ensure successful completion of the Practical Work: Competence in driving vehicles (previous tractor or truck driving experience is an advantage) Previous farming experience is preferred, though not essential Physical ability for working on farms without endangering yourself or others. The Bachelor of Commerce can be awarded with Honours, a one-year qualification. This is open to students who have achieved a B+ or higher in 300 level courses.
