Throughout the course you will gain an in-depth and practical understanding of the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). You will develop the skills needed to explain and describe language and you will consider the practicalities of teaching, so you can develop effective lesson planning and classroom management techniques. The programme is organised around four key themes: language description, language teaching, language learning, and an experiential theme. Assessment methods will vary depending on the modules you choose. They are likely to include reports, poster and/or verbal presentations, media projects, fieldwork reports, group work, literature reviews and research, essays and the design of a science event. By the end of the course you will have a strong foundation to pursue a career in English language teaching or a career relating to primary teaching, education and language learning more generally. You will also be well-equipped to progress on to the MA TESOL Studies programme to gain a more advanced academic qualification to start a career in TESOL.
