English Literature Gives students the opportunity to experience teaching from across 2 broad areas of the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures bringing together expertise across a wide range of Subject Areas. This four-year course will take students on a broadly chronological journey of English Literature from the Anglo Saxon period through to the present day. Spanish Gives students a thorough grounding in the language and culture of the Spanish-speaking world as well as the opportunity to learn Catalan. Alongside their study of Spanish language, students explore a range of options in visual culture (including film), area-specific history, linguistics and literature. Year 3 is spent in a Spanish-speaking country (on university exchange, work placement, teaching as an English-language assistant). Our programmes are assessed in various ways: examinations, oral examinations (where language study is part of your degree), presentations and coursework. Coursework may include library research, linguistic fieldwork and data collection, or web-based research. Many courses are assessed through a mixture of techniques. In your final year, you can choose to write a dissertation.
