This Integrated Masters in Languages (MLang) leads to a full masters award and offers you the same choice and flexibility as the BA programmes, including a full year abroad. It also has the same funding options. This degree enables you to gain a masters qualification in four years with a full year abroad and has the same funding options as for our BA programmes, with a reduced fee for the year abroad. You will have the option to specialise in certain areas (eg translation, interpreting, language education) at various points in the degree. You may study one or two languages, one at beginner's level, while pathways allow you to choose from a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules. Modern languages and linguistics at Southampton is consistently ranked in the top five in the UK by The Guardian University Guide and we are ranked fifth in the UK for the quality of our research (REF 2014). Teaching and learning is supported by three research centres, Transnational Studies, Global Englishes and Applied Language Research. You will be able to learn another language such as Arabic, Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish from scratch, and reach graduate level in Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese.
