Protecting biodiversity and managing our natural habits have become key challenges of our time. Southampton’s MEcol Ecology and Conservation will build your passion for conservation whist equipping you with the skills to meet these important challenges.This four year integrated masters explores the impact of the human activity on our ecosystems, examining cell biology right up to animal behaviour and biodiversity. You will develop the habitat monitoring, species surveying and ecological analysis skills required for rewarding careers in conservation, habitat management and environmental monitoring.With easy access to the New Forest National Park, Jurassic Coast and South Downs, you will be perfectly located for fieldwork in diverse local habitats. We also offer the opportunity of exciting residential fieldtrips to Spain and Belize as part of the course.You will be taught in our state-of-the-art Life Sciences facility by expert Biological Sciences staff who regularly influence ecological policy and decision-making around the globe. It is here that you will sharpen your research skills by carrying out a significant project in one of our research groups. We have links to a number of local conservation organisations such as Marwell Wildlife and work placements are available for ambitious and talented students.
