Based on our Sutton Bonington Campus, this course allows you to develop a broad understanding of microbiology through a flexible course of modules. We place great emphasis on the importance of practical experience to complement your theoretical knowledge; therefore a significant proportion of this degree is conducted in our purpose-built laboratory facilities. This laboratory experience means that upon completion of this course, you will be qualified to work with microbial pathogens, opening up a number of laboratory career opportunities in institutions such as hospitals or pharmaceutical companies. You can further these career prospects by taking advantage of an optional paid placement year, between years two and three, developing your skills in an industry setting.
