This degree enables you to gain an understanding of major advances across virtually the whole field of genetics, including microbial and evolutionary genetics. Over the last decade, genetics and genetic technologies have had a major impact on the understanding of human biology and disease. With expert academics teaching, your studies will be closely related to the latest research in genetics. This is strengthened in your fourth year where you will undertake an extended research project. You will have a thorough knowledge of modern genetics, in areas such as the control of gene expression, cancer genetics, DNA repair, developmental biology, microbial evolution and population and conservation genetics. You will have a range of transferable skills and your research experience, from project work in the third and fourth years will adapt you for research training positions.
