If you're looking to develop your career in economics or econometrics this course provides you with analytical and technical skills you need for the profession, as well as a solid grounding in commerce. The course will enable you to build your knowledge in one of the following specialisations: Applied Econometrics; Applied Economics and Econometrics or Business Economics.
You will engage in a comprehensive theoretical and practical curriculum across your chosen field and develop high-level expertise in applied economic and econometric tools.
The program also gives you the opportunity to undertake independent research in your chosen specialisation.
Business economics
The specialisation in business economics provides an advanced knowledge of the theories explaining and analysing economic policies - focusing on how individuals, households, firms and governments interact and how economies work, with an emphasis on economic regulation and policy.

Applicants must have a relevant bachelor degree or equivalent. English language requirements: IELTS 7.0 no band lower than 6.5, or TOEFL 600 with a TWE of 5, or an internet-based TOEFL score of 100 with 24 plus in Writing and no section lower than 20

Entry level 1: An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification), with a preferred Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65% or an equivalent GPA as determined by the faculty. Applicants will be ranked and selected based on their entire academic record. Applicants wishing to complete the Applied Econometrics or Applied Economics and Econometrics stream must have achieved a result of at least 70% (or equivalent) in a first year undergraduate statistics course.
Entry level 2: An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) in a cognate discipline with at least a credit (65%) average, or qualification/experience or satisfactory substitute that the faculty considers to be equivalent. OR An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) and an Australian graduate certificate (or equivalent qualification) in a cognate discipline with at least a credit (65%) average in both qualifications, or qualification/experience or satisfactory substitute that the faculty considers to be equivalent. OR A four-year Australian undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent qualification) with at least a credit (65%) average, or qualification/experience or satisfactory substitute that the faculty considers to be equivalent. Applicants wishing to complete the Applied Econometrics or Applied Economics and Econometrics stream must have achieved a result of at least 70% (or equivalent) in a first year undergraduate statistics course.

IELTS: 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0) TOEFL Paper-based test: 550 with a TWE of 4.5 TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18
