This innovative degree offers you the opportunity to study Law and English and American Literature in a four-year programme which allows you to study both subjects in equal depth and at sufficient level to develop a sophisticated understanding of each, with a pathway enabling you to obtain a Qualifying Law Degree (giving you the ability to progress to the next stage of legal training in England and Wales). Covering the foundations of law alongside compulsory and optional modules in English (taught by our highly regarded School of English), you develop an understanding of the law, taught from a critical perspective which allows you to engage in informed debate about contemporary legal issues (with an understanding of its history and development), and the space to study two full academic years' worth of modules in English and American Literature, ranging from the medieval period to the 21st Century.
