This course has been designed to provide graduates with the knowledge and understanding to work at an advanced level, managing patient care in perioperative practice.
It offers the opportunity to develop advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and to apply them to management in perioperative practice. You will have the opportunity to develop, through the process of research, advanced practical and theoretical knowledge and understanding of managing care and the ability to influence change in the field of perioperative practice.
As a full-time student, you will undertake all taught modules during one academic year, while part-time students undertake modules over two years. The modular structure of the programme enables you to select the most appropriate profession-specific modules and shared or generic modules from a suite of modules within the postgraduate provision of the School of Healthcare Studies.
For the Postgraduate Certificate, students complete the Research Methods and Health Improvement in Health and Social Care module (30 credits) and at least one profession-specific module (30 credits).
To be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma, students need to complete the Research Methods and Health Improvement in Health and Social Care module (30 credits) and at least one profession-specific module (30 credits). The remaining 60 credits can be made up of either another profession specific module and/or shared modules available within the MSc suite of optional modules.
Students who proceed to successful completion of a research project and subsequent dissertation will be eligible for the award of a Master of Science degree.

Students will be required to have a relevant four year bachelor's degree from a recognised institution, with grades of approximately 80% or above to qualify for our postgraduate taught programmes.
