The BSc in Financial Mathematics aims to provide you with fundamental mathematical and statistical knowledge, whilst also developing important transferrable skills and an understanding of modern finance studies regarding financial markets, institutions, investments and policies.This degree offers a solid grounding in general mathematical theory and techniques. It encourages an understanding of abstract mathematical concepts, logical argument and deductive reasoning. Much of year one is common to our courses, so if you wish to change to another course within the School this may be possible.This particular version of the degree allows you to spend your third year in paid work as a mathematician and/or statistician at an organisation in the United Kingdom or Europe. You will have support to apply for a placement and they can be undertaken with a wide range of providers across industry and government including many in the professional and financial services, the pharmaceutical industry and organisations such as the Office for National Statistics.
