Our reputation is reflected in the tens of millions of pounds in research funding that we attract annually and by our consistent high level of publications in top international journals. We encourage high-level interdisciplinary collaborations, both nationally and internationally. We are ranked 13th in the UK in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014. In this assessment 60% of our research was deemed ‘outstanding’ for its impact in terms of its reach and significance.
