This is a design based career conversion/ development course to Masters level, for anyone who has a passion for Landscape Architecture, but a first degree in any other subject. It brings together the syllabus for ‘conversion’ to Landscape Architecture, with our Masters in Professional Landscape Architecture, in a single entry programme. It is fully accredited by the Landscape Institute. If you are unsure you want to complete a Masters degree, you may also consider applying for the Post Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture. The course covers design modules, where you lead on design, using a range of softwares, drawing and modelling techniques taught in studio and theory/ professional practice, where we visit, study, hear from and discuss professional Landscape Architects and other theorists work. It culminates in the final thesis module. As you move towards the thesis, tutors will support you to explore, and ultimately decide on, your area of interest. Through project work, following a pattern of investigation, experiment and innovation, you will develop a broad understanding of contemporary landscape issues as well as the critical and aesthetic skills you need to pursue a career in landscape architecture. You will also learn traditional and new approaches to representation and advanced computing. Our MA is unique in its focus on the temporal and urban aspects of landscape, rather than the horticultural. We believe in a collaborative studio culture and small classes. The course culminates in the development of your own thesis, while working collaboratively with others in a way that echoes life in a professional landscape architecture practice. This course offers the possibility of earning intermediate academic awards in the form of a PG Diploma, a PG Certificate, Professional certificate or Professional diploma.
