This course is designed to prepare you for further study or for a career in chemistry related disciplines. It’s ideal if you’ve not quite achieved the grades you wanted or if you’re a mature student who wants to get back into education. The course is really flexible, giving you the opportunity to specialise in pharmaceutical chemistry, materials chemistry or environmental chemistry in your second year. Many of our students also go on to complete the BSc (Hons) Chemistry course after successfully completing the foundation degree qualification. Throughout the course, you’ll develop a broad knowledge base which is practical in nature, giving you the skills to apply chemical sciences in a professional working environment. You’ll be taught through a variety of teaching and learning experiences which will help you develop a range of important transferable skills. As well as traditional lectures and seminars, you’ll take part in workshops, group projects, and oral presentations. Chemistry graduates have excellent employment prospects and possess a wide range of academic and transferable skills, including IT, communication, presentation skills, time management, and research techniques. These prepare you for careers where problem-solving, wealth creation and improving the quality of life are important.
