A Childhood Studies are suitable for those interested in working with children and young people but have not yet decided on a career path. You will be studying innovative modules, led by experienced staff, to develop your understanding of childhood history, children's rights, the nature of childhood and the role of adults working with children in a national, European and international context. You will undertake academic study in the fields of psychology, sociology, social policy, education, health and well-being related to children's lives. 'Childhood' is defined as the life of a child from his early years to teenage years, and the content of the program focuses on the three main themes of Childhood: The Child and his / her development; The Child and Society; The Child and the world of education. The overall program will promote study skills and understanding for research into childhood issues. The Sociological attitude of the course takes into account the social nature of our lives and scrutinizes the relationships of people and groups with each other. The course asks the big questions such as: how society is organized, what is the purpose of those arrangements and who is winning? Many of our graduates have gone on to work in the primary, secondary, tertiary or higher education sectors. Many of our BA in Childhood studies students have applied for our PGCE course.
