This course focuses on showing students how to apply a range of maths tools and get results, which they will be able to use day-to-day in employment. This seems to work well with our students as we recently scored 100% student satisfaction in the Guardian's University Guide 2011. By the end of the course, they will have developed a range of skills that employers appreciate and so, be ready to enter the workplace and contribute very quickly. They can choose to go on placement in their third year for a full 48-week placement and earn money in a real job while receiving the full support of the University throughout the year. In their final year, they can specialise in areas such as cryptography, medical statistics or fluid dynamics and can dig even deeper with a project lasting the full year. The course is taught in small groups where appropriate, which ensures active participation and individual attention and means that they have the best chance of fulfilling their potential. They will also benefit from the enhanced facilities, including 24-hour open access to our computing facilities and library and wireless access throughout the campus.
