专业简介
The 5-year full-time combined degree of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Economics is offered on the Hobart campus by the College of Arts, Law & Education and the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics (TSBE). The first year may be completed at Launceston and Cradle Coast.
Course objectives
The objectives of the combined degree are:
to complement studies in humanities and social sciences with a solid grounding in modern economics;
to broaden the opportunities of economics students to undertake studies in languages and area studies;
to prepare students for eventual responsible professional posts in private and public organisation;
to produce graduates capable of operating effectively in a rapidly changing environment;
to develop students as persons with a life-long interest for learning in their special and related fields.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Economics with Honours (AQF Level 8) graduates will be able to:
Acquire, consolidate, critically evaluate, reflect and synthesise advanced knowledge in one of the humanities and social sciences disciplines and in one of the economics disciplines.
Critically analyse and devise an appropriate response to a challenging complex or multi-faceted problem, identify research questions, design, plan and execute a project.
Make evidence based decisions that take account of diverse contexts and constraints impacting on societies and environments.
Communicate complex information effectively in written, visual and oral forms with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Work effectively, responsibly, respectfully and safely in individual and/or team contexts.
Demonstrate self-management, flexibility, initiative and resilience in readiness for diverse workplace demands.
Career outcomes
Depending on the choice of units taken - graduates of the combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Economics degree could expect to find positions in banking, financial management, statistics, market research, stock market, government agencies and teaching.
Professional Recognition
There are no professional bodies in the economics discipline. However, while undertaking the Bachelor of Economics degree or a combined economics degree, students can apply to become special members of the Economic Society of Australia.
Students completing a Bachelor of Economics or an economics combined degree who are also completing a Finance major may meet the academic entry requirements to seek membership of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance.

Admission Prerequisites
In addition to meeting the University's basic admission requirements, applicants must have passed TCE MAP5C Mathematics Applied, or an equivalent unit, or, a higher level Mathematics subject as accepted by the College of Business and Economics.
