This innovative, four year part-time structured Doctoral Programme combines online learning and residential teaching. It is for motivated, self-managing individuals who work in positions of influence in any sector of education wishing to develop their e-learning research and practice. Participants receive structured support in research methodologies and practice and undertake small-scale studies related to their professional environments. This is followed by a period of intensive individual research supervised by an expert in the field. Participants benefit from a structured set of modules (over two years), residential events, and an online learning community through which they receive support from other participants and tutors. This PhD doctoral progamme is designed specifically for professionals, for people who wish to study to an advanced level and carry out a piece of research of the highest possible standard in an aspect of their professional practice. The PhD in E-Research and Technology Enhanced Learning builds on the expertise of the members of the Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning in the Department of Educational Research and their long experience in running Masters Degrees in advanced learning technologies and networked e-learning.
