Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary approach to enabling the realisation of complex systems or analysis of interactions. Study principles from across a range of Engineering disciplines and interactions between systems enabling you to work at the boundaries of complex problems. Many complex engineering products (such as aerospace and automotive) involve a high level of integration and interaction across the mechanical, electronic and software domains. A Systems Engineer also needs to understand the broader context of a system including people, processes, and information flow in order to work on high-level problems facing the world, such as climate change, health, food and security. The Systems Thinking approach you’ll gain from this course equips engineers to work at a high level on an exceptionally broad range of problems from both the engineering sector and other disciplines. Assessment is through examinations and coursework. Coursework assessment can include laboratory reports, projects, essays and oral presentations. Our graduates have gone on to work for companies such as Arup, BAE Systems, Jaguar Land Rover, Ricardo and Rolls-Royce, amongst many others.
