This course is for those who want to appeal to multi-national law firms, where having language skills, knowledge of another legal system and the experience of having lived abroad can be a distinct advantage when beginning your legal career. With the advent of European and International law, it has never been more useful, in terms of both intellect and employability, to understand more than one language. While this course will teach you English law, another language will make you a more valuable candidate to law firms as they search for those who can deal with foreign cases and clients. Your learning will be divided equally between law and your chosen modern language. Law modules will cover the essential areas of the profession while your languages education will advance your spoken, written and cultural understanding. For your language, you may choose between French, Italian or Spanish - all of which can be taken at either beginner or advanced level. In first year you will be introduced to the core elements of law and begin studying the cultural and linguistic aspects of your chosen language. In second year you will advance your language skills while broadening your scope of law to include criminal and European law. During third year you will spend a year studying abroad at one of our partner partner institutions.
