Our world-leading experts have particular strengths in virology and bacteriology and we have strong links with industry.Through the course, you will learn about the fundamental properties, genetics and physiology of diverse microbes, their impact on health, and how knowledge aids the prevention of disease. The range of optional modules allows you to focus on areas that most interest you, whether this is medical, environmental or food microbiology.Many of our graduates have careers in microbiology research or industry. Examples include working at public health research laboratories, with a synthetic biology company, in the water industry, in the food industry or in academia. Others are working as biomedical scientists or teachers.
