The Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) is an interdisciplinary graduate degree programme offered through the School of Public Policy, the hub of LSE’s public policy expertise. The EMPA brings together academic and practitioner experts to prepare students to meet the policy challenges of tomorrow. The curriculum emphasises a core set of skills in economics, policy evaluation and political science while demonstrating how these can be applied to analyse policies in a broad range of geographies and contexts. This programme is aimed at people in full-time employment. The EMPA offers week-long intensive courses and long weekend Policy in Practice Workshops. In addition to studying compulsory courses, you can also choose between a number of option courses. This allows you to customise your curriculum to match your personal and professional interests. This high-quality, interdisciplinary programme has been designed to meet the needs of those in both the public and private sectors, and other sectors involved with major public policy decisions, who are seeking career progression, career transition or senior level effectiveness. The programme benefits from sharing some classes with the Executive Master of Public Policy programme (EMPP). The EMPP is open only to UK Civil Servants and is designed to train the organisation’s future leaders. The cohort is senior, experienced and knowledgeable in contemporary public policy challenges.
