Deakin’s Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Sciences gives you an understanding of the nature of food and the importance of nutrition for health. Throughout this stream of the course, you will gain an understanding of human nutrition and the complexity of current issues relating to food and human health. This includes cardiovascular disease, nutrition and ageing, children’s food habits, social and physiological aspects of food and nutrition, and bone health. You will gain an understanding of food, food choice and its relationship to health, consumer perceptions and the role of nutrition in human health and disease prevention. You will also learn about the health and commercial considerations related to the food supply, the nutritional implications of food product compositions and the sustainability of global food supplies. The Bachelor of Commerce stream of this degree provides a solid foundation in business, economic and financial principles as well as skills in business analytics. You can choose to undertake a major in either management or marketing as part of this course.
