ENHANCING THE LIFE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH TRANSFORMATIONAL EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES. The Department of Educational Studies is shaping the future of education through transformative learning and research. Our strengths in stakeholder engagement and research ensures we’re leading the way and enriching the lives of those who graduate, as well as the students who are the eventual recipients of all that we accomplish on campus. Our future-facing programs have their foundations in interdisciplinary research and our curriculum allows our students to learn discipline studies from experts across the university. Our research and teaching is supported by outstanding facilities and opportunities. These include the world-renowned Mia Child and Family Study Centre that provides long day care for the community as well as exceptional observation and research opportunities; and Macquarie University school for children between kindergarten to year 6 who have special learning needs. The data is collected through surveys relating to: Students’ satisfaction with key aspects of their study experience, such as teaching quality, learning resources and support services. Graduates’ satisfaction with their course. Graduates’ employment and further study outcomes, including information on the proportion of graduates finding work and median salaries. The Department of Educational Studies conducts innovative, rigorous research which aims to transform the learning, development and wellbeing of children, adult learners, teachers and their communities. Our research, which employs diverse methods and theoretical frameworks, situates the individual learner within the broader ecology of family, institutional and community life to support the informed development of policy and professional practice.
