Understanding politics and public policy, and the broader impacts of political decisions, provides unique insight into unfolding events. It equips you to pursue your passion for social issues and shaping policy to meet organisational or community objectives, and opens the door to a dynamic and exciting career. This double degree, which can be completed in just two-and-a-half years, develops your understanding of the structure and processes of policy formulation, implementation and evaluation from an Australian perspective, and develops your skills in applied social research and the analysis of policy in social context. KEY FEATURES You'll acquire a deep knowledge of how political processes inform and shape policy development, as well as the skills to help you to analyse, design and deliver effective policy solutions. You'll develop study plans tailored to your personal interests and be able to study diverse disciplines including evidence-based policy, accountability, federal-state relations, globalisation, policy transfer, political parties and citizen engagement, migration, human rights, sustainable development, public policy and cross-cultural communication. You'll learn about the politics surrounding public policy, and the changing landscape of policy-making and Australian public policy. You'll be equipped with the knowledge and skills to undertake both quantitative and qualitative research in areas such as human services and care, crime and social policy, work and employment, and economics. You'll learn how to engage with statistical data in an applied manner, run focus groups, conduct surveys and analyse survey data. You'll have opportunities to work on a social research project in a work setting. You'll be equipped with skills that are widely sought after in the government, non-government and private sectors.
