The Department of Educational Studies conducts innovative, rigorous research which aims to transform the learning, development and wellbeing of children, adult learners, teachers and their communities. Our research, which employs diverse methods and theoretical frameworks, situates the individual learner within the broader ecology of family, institutional and community life to support the informed development of policy and professional practice.

Our future-facing programs have their foundations in interdisciplinary research and our curriculum allows our students to learn discipline studies from experts across the university. Our research and teaching is supported by outstanding facilities and opportunities. These include the world-renowned Mia Child and Family Study Centre that provides long day care for the community as well as exceptional observation and research opportunities; and Macquarie University school for children between kindergarten to year 6 who have special learning needs.
The department offers undergraduate degrees in early childhood, primary and secondary education; postgraduate degrees in leadership, teaching excellence, ICT in education and special education; as well as opportunities for postgraduate research. In our undergraduate courses, professional experience is a core component of your study.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution. They should be able to demonstrate research experience in their previous studies. English Language Requirements: TOEFL (paper based) score of 570; Pearson test of English (PTE) academic general score of 64; Cambridge English: advanced (CAE) general score of 58; Occupational English test (OET) score of Grade B or above.
国际学生入学条件
The minimum requirement for admission to a MPhil degree is:
Completion of a Master of Research (MRes) with at least 65% in second year; or
A two-year Master degree with a major research component at Credit level (65% or greater).
IELTS (academic) is 6.5; TOEFL (computer based) is 237, TOEFL (internet based) is 92 and TOEFL (paper based) is 580.
