Macquarie is home to internationally respected clinical psychologists, cognitive psychologists, linguists, neuropsychologists, neuroscientists, philosophers and speech pathologists who are leading the world in understanding and treating disorders such as anxiety, aphasia, autism, depression, dyslexia, post-traumatic stress disorder, prosopagnosia, schizophrenia, social phobia and specific language impairments. Together, they have helped Macquarie achieve international recognition for psychology and cognitive science research. In the most recent Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) evaluation, our psychology and cognitive science research received a rating of ‘performance at world standard’. We host the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders and the KIT-Macquarie Brain Research Laboratory, which houses the world’s first child MEG system, and the world’s first MEG system for children and adults with Cochlear implants. Our research strengths are concentrated in the areas of: belief formation emotion and mental health language and reading memory neuropsychology and neuropharmacology organisational and applied psychology perception in action social, developmental and personality psychology, and theory, methodology and evolutionary psychology
