Overview
The Development Studies specialisation teaches the diverse theories, methods and relationships that seek, analyse and/or bring about targeted change in the lives of people around the world. It offers students an exciting combination of units and experiences that focus on the ways in which development operates within international political, economic and cross-cultural relations. Central to this is the crucial role culture change plays in the opportunities and choices facing people in diverse parts of the world. The Development Studies specialisation within The Master of Development Studies and Global Health aims to provide training for those who seek to develop their expertise and work in a wide range of fields related to development assistance, international aid, community development (local and international), humanitarian aid and change management in cross-cultural settings.

Offers a unique opportunity to gain specialised skills and training in the field of development studies.
Opportunity to undertake a supervised research-based project where you design and conduct your own independent project, practise newly acquired skills and put theory into action.
You will develop culturally relevant professional leadership skills to work collaboratively to set priorities, identify issues and address the practical problems within a variety of contexts.
An applied anthropology focus and an opportunity to learn and apply ethnographic or social impact assessment methods.

Students coming from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds. For example, graduates from the social sciences, behavioural or health science with some social science background; or those with work experience as a development professional, social worker or health professional.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institution. They should be able to demonstrate research experience in their previous studies. English Language Requirements: TOEFL (paper based) score of 570; Pearson test of English (PTE) academic general score of 64; Cambridge English: advanced (CAE) general score of 58; Occupational English test (OET) score of Grade B or above.

• Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent in social sciences, behavioural or health sciences (with a social science background), or a related discipline
• GPA of least 4.50 (out of 7.00)
IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent; TOEFL iBT 83; PTE Academic 58; CAE 180; CPE 180; OET B.
