Overview Psychology professionals seek to understand how the mind works and why people behave the way they do. Human services professionals have a desire to improve people's quality of life. Both professions ultimately seek to provide strategies that can help people live happier, healthier and more productive lives. This double degree will prepare you for a career in psychology fields such as clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology or organisational psychology, as well as in human services fields such as counselling, rehabilitation or social work. KEY FEATURES The psychology component involves three years of accredited undergraduate study followed by an honours year in which you complete a research thesis and advanced coursework units. This enables you to apply for entry to professional masters programs focused on your career of choice. You're guaranteed a place in the honours program if you achieve the criteria for admission into the honours year. You'll have the opportunity to major in one, or even two, areas that particularly interest you. You'll learn to use scientific inquiry to critically assess situations and assist in facilitating the provision of human health, community and wellbeing services. Completion of certain majors provides the required academic background for postgraduate study in areas such as physiotherapy (Human Movement major) and audiology. ACCREDITATION This program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and enables you to pursue further study in the profession of psychology or a higher research degree. SUITABLE FOR Want a career in community services and health care, or to qualify for postgraduate studies in psychology? This combined degree encompasses the biological, psychological and social dimensions of health for practice or a role in allied health (ie health professions other than medicine, nursing or dentistry).
