The Master of Science (Medical Radiation Physics) is a program for graduates with preliminary education background in physics, mathematics, biology or engineering who wish to work in public health and related areas, and who have a need for current knowledge and technical expertise in Medical Radiation Physics. This degree Our Medical Radiation Physics (MRP) program is backed by clinical associations with local and Sydney hospitals - over 50% of current practising medical physicists in NSW were educated and trained at UOW. Our strong ties with industries and government labs ensure you receive significant industry exposure throughout your degree. Your lectures in Nuclear Medicine, Radiobiology and Radiation Protection and practical classes will be held in hospitals by practising Medical Physicists and university academics. You’ll also undertake a significant research thesis component (33–50% of your workload) with joint clinical or industry supervision with partners such as ANSTO, CSIRO and the Australian Synchrotron. You will benefit from the strong collaborative links in research and development that our staff have with local and international companies and leading medical radiation physics institutions. The Master program comprises 12 coursework subjects and an applied research project under the supervision of professional medical physicists. Coursework subjects include: Advanced Modern Physics An Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 Applied Differential Equations Electromagnetism and Optoelectronics Multivariate and Vector Calculus Nuclear Physics Quantum Mechanics Nuclear Medicine Medical Imaging Instrumentation and Imaging Physics Radiation Protection Diagnostic Radiology Radiotherapy Radiobiology. Course Learning Outcomes Students graduating from the Master of Science (Medical Radiation Physics) will be able to: Evaluate medical radiation related instrumentation and apply techniques associated with diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology. Interpret theoretical, practical and professional information and communicate knowledge, ideas and procedures to other health care professionals/practitioners, researchers and other key stakeholders. Employ independent learning strategies to self-evaluate and update professional knowledge of innovations in medical radiation physics. Apply knowledge of the basic structure and function of the human body relevant to clinical diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology. Evaluate radiation and radioactivity, its properties, units of measure, dosimetry measurement concepts and methods. Appraise radiation safety practices and procedures associated with diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology. Exercise critical thinking and judgement of the biological effects of radiation and its application for radiation safety and for radiation treatment. Perform the clinical support procedures required of a medical physicist in a professional and ethical manner. Design, research, synthesise key information and apply expert judgement in completing independent research projects and thesis in the field of medical radiation physics.

入学要求

为来自中国的学生设计 An Honours Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline at Class II Division 2 or higher or appropriate Master of Philosophy with a strong thesis performance. Special Admission Requirements: All applicants for research degrees must submit a written (preferably typed) proposal as part of their application. This proposal should: commence with a statement detailing any previous research or project experience you have undertaken, including if possible a copy of the abstract of such work; contain, in no more than one additional page, a clearly focused research proposal for the study you would wish to undertake throughout your registration in the course; and conclude with a statement of your motivation for wanting to undertake the research course. English language requirements: IELTS - 6.5 (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking – 6.0); TOEFL – 88 (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking – 18). 国际学生入学条件 A recognised Bachelor degree in Physics or Medicine with an equivalent average mark of 65 percent. English Language Requirements: IELTS Academic Overall Score of 6.5, reading 6.0, writing 6.0, listening 6.0, speaking 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based) score of 88, reading 18, writing 18, listening 18, speaking 18; Cambridge English: CAE and CPE score of 176; PTE Academic overall score of 64 (Minimum communicative skill score of 57).
